All govts playing an active role in curbing virus: Dr. Zafar Mirza

Almost 79% of virus cases in Pakistan are locally transmitted: SAPM
PM’s Special Assistant on Health Dr. Zafar Mirza acknowledged the efforts made so far in the provinces and said that all governments were playing an active role in curbing the virus.
Addressing a press alongside Firdous Ashiq Awan today (Thursday), Dr. Zafar Mirza also praised all provincial chief ministers for cooperating with the federal government.
He said that he was thankful to all CM’s for their cooperation and for providing us with timely updates.
Dr. Zafar Mirza also announced that a national dashboard was launched which will provide real-time updates on coronavirus cases across Pakistan.
Commenting on assistance from China, Dr. Zafar Mirza said that there have been far-reaching discussions on health between China and Pakistan.
He further said that they will interact with Chinese experts on infectious diseases and seek their help in tackling the pandemic.
In this regard, Dr. Zafar Mirza also announced that the first video conference in this regard will take place soon.
Referring to the increasing number of cases, Dr. Zafar Mirza said, “We don’t need to be obsessive about the number as there are thousands of confirmed coronavirus cases in other countries.”
On social distancing, Dr. Zafar Mirza said that Prime Minister Imran Khan’s speech was focused on social distancing, adding that the nation should practice this as soon as possible.
The Special Assistant also informed that in the next press conference, only national TV (PTV) will record the conference and make it available to other media channels.
