RAWALPINDI: The Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa while acknowledging the positive trajectory of bilateral ties between the two countries has appreciated Qatar’s support to Pakistan in various domains.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Qamar Javed Bajwa had a meeting with the Chairman of Pakistan-Qatar Takaful Insurance Company and a member of the ruling family of State of Qatar Sheikh Ali Bin Abdullah Thani J Al Thani to discuss matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed a broad range of issues, including regional security situation, the recent developments in the Afghan peace process, and bilateral cooperation in various fields, the military’s wing said.
The visiting dignitary appreciated Pakistan’s contributions to conflict prevention in the region and expressed the desire for enhanced Pakistan-Qatar bilateral collaboration, the ISPR said.
Earlier, the Special Envoy of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Dr Mutlaq Bin Majed Al Qahtani had said continuous efforts of Pakistan’s army for peace and stability in the region admirable.
During a meeting with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa at General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Monday Dr Mutlaq lauded Pakistan’s civil and military forces for their countless sacrifices in establishing peace in the region, according to ISPR.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Director General Inter-Services Intelligence was also present in the meeting.
Matters of mutual interest, regional security situation, cooperation in various fields and facilitation of reconciliation process in Afghanistan were discussed in detail.
The Army Chief reiterated that both countries share great historic cordial relations and a deep-rooted spirit of brotherhood, which has transformed into an enduring partnership.
The visiting dignitary also lauded Pakistan’s continuous efforts for peace and stability in the region and pledged to keep working for better relations between the two countries.
