Three armed men riding a motorcycle robbed a citizen of Rs6 million outside a bank in Karachi’s Safoora Chowrangi area on Monday.
According to police sources, the incident occurred near a private hospital at Safora Chowrangi, within the jurisdiction of Sachal police station.
The victim, identified as Liaquat, had arrived at the bank to deposit the cash when three unidentified armed suspects intercepted him outside the bank and snatched the money at gunpoint.
The suspects opened fire when the victim resisted before fleeing the scene on their motorcycle with the cash.
During the firing, an 18-year-old youth, Amir, who was inside the bank, was injured after broken glass struck him.
Following the incident, police teams reached the scene and collected initial evidence. SSP East Zubair Nazir also visited the site and reviewed the situation.
Police have obtained preliminary CCTV footage showing the helmet-clad suspects carrying away a bag containing the stolen cash after the robbery.
Authorities have launched an investigation and are reviewing the CCTV footage to identify and trace the suspects. Police are also collecting further evidence from the scene as efforts continue to arrest those involved.
