The upcoming Indian TV political drama series “Freedom At Midnight,” directed by Nikkhil Advani, will star Arif Zakaria and Ira Dubey as Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Fatima Jinnah, respectively.
The announcement was made by the producers on Saturday, May 11. This upcoming series, based on Dominique Lapierre and Larry Collins’ book of the same name, will be available for streaming on SonyLIV. Co-produced by StudioNext and Advani’s Emmay Entertainment, it promises to delve into the intricate web of events surrounding India’s independence.

“Freedom At Midnight” aims to be an epic political thriller, weaving together various incidents from India’s independence year and the influential figures who shaped its destiny.
Arif Zakaria expressed his enthusiasm for portraying Muhammad Ali Jinnah, emphasizing the importance of depicting him as a multifaceted individual rather than a perfect hero. Similarly, Ira Dubey shared her excitement for portraying Fatima Jinnah, highlighting the uniqueness and challenge of her role in the series, which marks her second collaboration with SonyLIV after “Potluck.”
