The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has announced its five-member squad for the Davis Cup World Group-I playoff against Kazakhstan, set for February 1-2 in Nur-Sultan.
According to some reports, the announcement follows selection trials conducted at the PTF Tennis Complex in Islamabad from January 11-14. The squad features Huzaifa Abdul Rehman, Muzammil Murtaza, and promising young talent Ahmad Nael, who earned their places through the trials.
Veteran players Aqeel Khan and Mohammad Shoaib received exemptions based on their extensive experience and consistent performance at both national and international levels.
The PTF highlighted that the selection process was primarily based on the players’ current national rankings and their recent performance. The team will be led by captain Mohammad Haseeb Aslam, with Mohammad Shahid joining as the team’s physio.
