ISLAMABAD: The appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner and other members of the Pakistan Election Commission has been approved by President Dr. Arif Alvi.
Designations have been approved for a five-year tenure. Nisar Durrani has been appointed for member Sindh Election Commission and Shah Muhammad Jatoi for Balochistan Election Commission while the notification in this regard has also been issued.
The reconstitution of the Election Commission of Pakistan is completed as the federal government has appointed Sikandar Sultan Raja as the CEC.
Earlier on 17th January, the parliamentary committee made some progress during a meeting to discuss names for the appointment of CEC and members of ECP.
On 21st January, the Parliamentary Committee agreed on Sikandar Sultan Raja’s appointment as the new Chief Election Commissioner.
