India captain Virat Kohli and his wife and Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, have donated Indian 2 crores (US$ 270,000) approx towards a fundraising campaign as India reported another record daily rise in coronavirus cases.
The actress took to Twitter and wrote, “As our country battles the second wave of Covid-19, and our healthcare systems are facing extreme challenges, it breaks my heart to see our people suffering. So, Virat and I have initiated a campaign #InThisTogether, with Ketto, to raise funds for Covid-19 relief.”

In a video message, both husband and wife were seen saying, “Things have been very tough for India, as we fight the pandemic, and it really pains us to see our country suffer like this,” Kohli and Sharma said in a video posted on their social media channels. “We are grateful to all the people who have been fighting for us day and night. Their dedication is appreciated.”

India reported another record daily rise in coronavirus cases on Friday, bringing the total of new cases for the week to 1.57 million, as the country’s vaccination rate fell dramatically due to a lack of supplies and transport problems.
