Animal rescue charity ACF founder Ayesha Chundrigar has detailed incidents of being harassed by a female advocate whose pet cat died reportedly at her facility.
In a detail, Ayesha – who runs the biggest animal shelter home in Karachi – said she has been living a “nightmare” for three weeks after a woman advocate framed her animal rescue facility of “bogus charges” that were disposed of by the court.
Chundrigar said this woman went to Empress Market – which is notorious for keeping animals in dismal conditions – and “tried to incite these men to go against us for all our hard work, that gravely hinders the animal welfare we are trying to bring, to have real animal right laws in the country”.
She said all resources, time and energy have gone into figuring this case instead of rescuing animals and over 500 animals have suffered.
“I am requesting the law community that I truly respect, the authorities, animal lovers, & anyone who wants to see a positive & compassionate change in this country to help us stop this nonsense & stand on the side of justice,” she pleaded
“This is clearly NOT about a cat. This is about bringing down a charity, an animal rescue, the BEST thing to happen in Pakistan.”
“This is against the whole animal welfare movement. This is against bringing compassion & positive change in society. This is GOOD vs EVIL.”
I have been living a nightmare for 3 weeks now. A woman who is an advocate of the court is trying to frame my animal rescue on completely bogus charges that were disposed off in court. I sincerely thank the Judge 🙏🏼
But this woman isn’t stopping-she has now gone to Empress… pic.twitter.com/JKbqBsvvdY

Divulging the facts about the incident, Chundrigar said the woman requested them to rescue a cat which she claimed had a spinal injury. However, after being informed of the cat’s death, the woman suddenly changed her tune and said this was her pet.
Chundrigar mentioned that the woman was well aware that ACF does not take personal pets but rather abandoned, abused, and injured animals. “If this was a home pet, take your pet to a vet rather than leaving on a dirty busy road as she did,” she said.
“No animal or human with a broken spine who has been suffering for God knows how long, actually survives. My team has helped over 30,000 animals in 10 years. We would know,” she said.
Chundrigar expressed deep regret that criminal charges were framed against them even though ACF best thing to get a softer image of the country.
Here are the FACTS
She had requested us to rescue a cat with a spinal injury as she claimed herself. After being informed of the cat’s death, she suddenly changed her tune & said this was her pet & there was nothing wrong.

She said the woman was misusing her power to bring them down. “We DO NOT deserve to stand in court for 5 hours for 3 hearings on baseless nonsense. I was in the States showing the wonderful things ACF does in Pakistan. But instead, start dealing with this.”
“Finding lawyers overnight. Figuring out what criminal charges mean. & being terrorized by a woman who has tried to malign us on media & her own social media. All the while, trying to understand what bizarre nonsense this is.
“I am a woman doing an already very difficult job in Pakistan I have earned my respect. This is NOT RIGHT & now this same woman has gone to Empress Market.:
“I don’t know what she’s planning to smear ACF, trying to turn our beautiful work into something ugly, everyday is a new shock, but I cannot continue to stay in this trauma & be in the right frame to do the high functional, emotionally & physically draining work of rescue I do on a daily basis.”
“I’m really tired now. My brain is fried. I have never spoken about many of the things I’ve mentioned above cos I never let it impact my rescue work, only myself,” adding that this is impacting her work.
