The Wireless Festival has been cancelled after American rapper Ye, formerly Kanye West, was banned from entering the UK amid backlash over his headline performance.
The decision follows the withdrawal of three major sponsors and criticism from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer over West’s booking.
The Home Office confirmed that West’s Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) application was denied, citing that his presence would not be conducive to the public good.
Festival organiser Festival Republic confirmed the cancellation and stated that refunds will be issued to all ticket-holders.
In a statement, the organisers noted that multiple stakeholders had been consulted before booking West, and no concerns were raised at the time.
