National Cinema Day will be celebrated across India on Friday, September 20, with a special ticket pricing offer. In a bid to make cinema more accessible and attract larger audiences, all theatres nationwide will sell tickets for just Rs. 99. Premium formats such as IMAX, 4DX, Gold Class, and recliner seats will be available for Rs. 199.
The initiative, which first launched in September 2022, was met with overwhelming enthusiasm, leading to full houses at nearly every screening. The success continued into October 2023, and this year’s event is expected to be equally impactful.
Bollywood Hungama reports that multiplexes and other stakeholders have embraced the National Cinema Day offer, aiming to boost attendance for both new and existing films. Upcoming releases like Yudhra, starring Siddhant Chaturvedi and Malavika Mohanan, and Binny And Family, featuring Anjini Dhawan, are expected to benefit significantly from the reduced ticket prices.
Other films releasing on September 20, including Kahan Shuru Kahan Khatam, starring Dhvani Bhanushali, and Hollywood titles like Transformers One and Never Let Go, will also see increased viewership due to the special offer. Additionally, the Marathi comedy-drama Navra Maza Navsacha 2 is anticipated to draw large crowds, capitalizing on both its franchise popularity and the ticket discount.
The promotion is not new for 2024, as similar Rs. 99 offers were implemented on February 23, May 31, and August 9 as part of Cinema Lovers Day. This latest National Cinema Day offer aims to continue the tradition of celebrating cinema and encouraging moviegoers to enjoy a day at the movies at an affordable price.
