Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated thriller, Jigra, made its streaming debut on Netflix following a difficult theatrical run. The film, which failed to garner substantial attention in cinemas, is now available for viewing starting December 6, 2024 (today).
Directed by Vasan Bala, Jigra is an action-oriented thriller that features Alia Bhatt alongside Vedang Raina, Manoj Pahwa, and Vivek Gomber in key roles.
Despite its intriguing premise and commendable performances, Jigra encountered a lackluster response at the box office. The film’s release was characterized by a notably poor opening, marking a setback for Alia Bhatt, as it recorded the lowest opening for any of her films since Highway (2014). In contrast, her recent successes, such as Raazi and Gangubai Kathiawadi, achieved significantly higher opening day revenues.

This underwhelming performance led to discussions regarding the film’s box office failure, with some attributing it to inadequate marketing or a lack of audience interest.
Furthermore, during the film’s release, filmmaker Divya Khosla Kumar highlighted perceived similarities between Jigra and her earlier project, Savi.
She also accused Alia Bhatt of manipulating box office figures by purchasing tickets for her own film to artificially boost its collection statistics.
