Air Karachi has officially launched its operation office; however, it has not yet started commercial flight operations.

The airline is in the final stages of preparation, including acquiring aircraft and obtaining the final Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) from the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA).

Air Karachi’s operation office was inaugurated on November 1, 2025, but flights are not yet operational.

The airline secured its Regular Public Transport (RPT) license from the PCAA in June 2025, which permits them to begin commercial operations once all other requirements are met.

The initial plan is to launch domestic operations with a fleet of three leased aircraft, with intentions to expand to seven aircraft for future international routes. The airline is reportedly in talks with the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) for aircraft, potentially the C919 model.

The venture is backed by a consortium of prominent Karachi-based business tycoons, including Aqeel Karim Dhedhi and Arif Habib, with an initial investment of Rs 5 billion. The airline is led by retired Air Vice Marshal Syed Imran Majid Ali as the Chief Operating Officer.

Initial operations will focus on domestic routes, aiming to serve underserved cities.

The airline plans to expand to international flights (starting with the Middle East) after completing a mandatory one year of domestic service.

Air Karachi has announced a strategic partnership with Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) services.

Air Karachi aims to follow the successful model of AirSial, providing affordable and reliable air travel options in Pakistan’s growing aviation sector.
