KARACHI: After a satirical youth movement called the “Cockroach Party” went viral on social media in India, a similar platform named “Cockroach Party Pakistan” has now emerged in Pakistan, gaining rapid traction among young users.

The Indian movement, known as Cockroach Janta Party / Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which literally translates to ‘Cockroach People’s Party’, is a true and well-documented phenomenon.
It was founded on 16 May 2026 by Abhijeet Dipke, a former AAP social media worker and political communications strategist.
The party was created in response to remarks made on 15 May 2026 by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, who had reportedly referred to certain activists and unemployed youth as “cockroaches” and “parasites.”
What started as a satirical post asking “What if all cockroaches come together?” turned into a massive viral youth movement.
Adopting the insult as a badge of honour, the CJP described itself as the “Voice of the Lazy and Unemployed” and highlighted issues like unemployment, inflation, educational pressure and examination paper leaks.
The movement grew at an extraordinary pace, crossing 15 million followers on Instagram within days and surpassing the official handles of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Indian National Congress.
Some reports put its followers at more than 22 million in just six days.
The Pakistani Version
The online momentum has now crossed the border. Reports from May 2026 noted: “The online momentum soon crossed borders, with Pakistan witnessing the emergence of…” satirical pages.
One of the first accounts, named Cockroach Awami Party, openly acknowledged its inspiration, stating in its bio: “Pakistani version of @cockroachjantaparty India.”
According to media reports, the trend was covered under the headline “Pakistan gets its own ‘Cockroach Awami Party’ as India’s viral CJP sparks cross-border satire wave.”
There are now multiple pages active under similar names, including Cockroach Party Pakistan, Cockroach Awami Party (CAP), and Cockroach Awami League (CAL), which position themselves against established political parties like PTI, PMLN and PPP, claiming to represent youth, unity and change.
A recent Instagram reel from 24 July 2026 shows the account ‘COCKROACH PARTY PAKISTAN’ (@cockroachparty_pa…) with 70 posts and 27K followers. Its bio reads: “Pakistan belongs to its people – not corrupt mafias. A movement of youth, unity, and change. Founder: Aap (YOU).”
Like its Indian counterpart, the Pakistani version is using satire and memes to highlight the frustrations of the youth.
