ISLAMABAD: Interim Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi assured Pakistan on Monday that Afghanistan would not allow its soil to be used against its neighbor. Muttaqi, who is on a four-day visit to attend bilateral and trilateral dialogues, rejected propaganda claiming the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan as baseless. He also requested Pakistan and the banned militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) to hold talks for dialogue.
Attending public talk by H.E. Amir Khan Muttaqi Interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan organized by the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad ISSI, he denied that Afghanistan had declared girls’ education un-Islamic and banned it. He expressed his desire to increase partnership with Pakistan and move towards a bright future together. Joint investments will have to be made in rail, road, and corridor projects, he said.
“We fulfilled our responsibility regarding the TTP. We made both sides sit at the negotiating table to find a solution. The Afghan territory will not be allowed to be used against any country, including Pakistan,” Muttaqi announced.
The interim minister also recounted the achievements of the interim government and claimed that the whole world was recognizing Afghanistan. Despite international sanctions, the country’s imports and exports have reached $6.8 billion, he said.
