Unfortunately, there are many incidents of online fat-shaming or body shaming that people face every day. From an individual to a celebrity, they either get trolled or mock someone unintentionally for over an appearance.
The same happened in Nida Yasir’s morning show when a guest who is a TV actress named Naima Khan made insensitive remarks about overweight people.
The actress not only passed a few rude remarks about overweight people but also claimed that she does not like obese people. The Alif, Allah Aur Insaan actress said that actresses do not like her for her blunt remarks. “I speak on their faces that I thought some aunty is standing, due to their extra weight,” she asserted.

However, for that, the actress faced a lot of criticism. Now, the actress’s daughter has come forward and defended her mother’s interview. In a post, her daughter wrote that she understands that her choice of words was poor but she was trying to say that she herself has hypothyroid.
“My mother is in her fifties, a generation that is constantly learning and unlearning things. My mother realized that these remarks hurt sentiments and she even apologised,” her mother asserted.
According to Naima Khan’s daughter, there is a lot more for the generation of her mother needs to learn as they are unawre of it. “People who genuinely know her know she is very encouraging and supportive but yes, these were a poor choice of words and I am sorry about that and so is she. Please know she is in her fifties, this generation is in a process of understanding that what they grew up with was wrong and they are also trying to break the cycle,” she wrote.
