A new province?

Rizwan Ahmed Fikhri by Rizwan Ahmed Fikhri
October 7, 2020

The turmoil in Pakistan’s politics has brought both the government and the opposition face to face in the country. On the other hand, the politics of rallies is also on the rise in Sindh province. After the destruction of torrential rains in Karachi, both the Centre and the provincial government seemed to be active.

Prime Minister Imran Khan sent National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to Karachi who played a key role in cleaning the drains. The disaster authority is still working in order to remove the encroachments near the drains.

Later, the Prime Minister announced a package of 1100 billion for the metropolis, after which there was a wave of happiness among the people of Karachi but the PPP and the Centre started a war of words over money.

Eventually, Federal Minister Asad Umar ended the debate by saying that no matter who is paying most, but the relief work should be started. Apparently, the operation against encroachment was started but nowadays the matter seems to be closed. Despite the announcement of the Sindh government, there is no alternative for them and no progress is seen, so the removal of encroachments seems to be extinct.

The NDMA should have full powers. They could work decisively on it. The development and prosperity of Pakistan and its stability is the desire of every patriotic citizen. But the thought and words of Nawaz Sharif and the PPP for the establishment have raised questions about the security of the country.

In the latest development, an FIR against the top leadership of the PML-N, including the President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, has been registered by a citizen named Bashir. Certificates of treason, begun with Ms. Fatima Jinnah, are still being distributed to politicians.

For these reasons, we lost East Pakistan. Extremism has ruined the politics of the country. Meanwhile, Imran Khan was being considered a sensible politician, but his advisers and ministers are trying to make him an extremist in retaliation. Throughout the day, PTI ministers hold press conferences to humiliate the opposition instead of serving the people.

I wish they would have spent so much work on publicizing the good deeds of their government and filling the new Pakistan with the colors of reality. But instead of getting the country out of inflation and debt, PTI ministers keep putting Imran Khan to new tests.

These advisers and ministers are fueling the opposition, while in Sindh too, the PTI and the PPP are trying to disgrace each other. Now Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) is also dissatisfied with PPP as it is an ally of PTI. But now MQM has come to the politics of rallies with the slogan of a new province.

In such a situation, the stubbornness of the PPP and neglecting ‘Mahajars’ everywhere are ensuring the establishment of a new province. Khurshid Shah says that MQM is raising the slogan of a new province at the request of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

The people of Karachi are scattered, the mayor of Karachi did not deliver. Lack of resources was his excuse. Now people want a new province. Prime Minister Imran Khan had openly expressed his reservations over the mistreatment of the city that runs the country.

Sindhi nationalists do not want a university in Hyderabad, and Pakistan Peoples’ Party is supporting them in this regard. Imran Khan wants to build a university for the people of Hyderabad. Therefore, if the urban areas do not get immediate relief, it does not seem possible to stop the movement of a province. The situation in the country is also a sign that all the units of the country should be united. We have to defeat India on every front.

For this, all parties in the country have to adopt national thinking. PPP should give rights to ‘Muhajir’ people on the basis of equality, leaving behind hatred and bigotry. Otherwise, the movement of a new province will reach a logical conclusion, no matter how many serious factors come into play.
