ISLAMABAD: The Abu Dhabi Embassy has set a high example of humanity in South Waziristan by providing prosthetic legs and arms to people with disabilities. The affected persons have been fitted with prosthetic legs and arms by the UAE Embassy in collaboration with Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal, all costs are borne by the UAE government.
According to the details, prosthetic legs and arms for the disabled have been manufactured in Pakistan. Affected people can now walk after being fitted with artificial limbs and their disability and need are gone. On the occasion, UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Al-Zaabi said that 61 persons with disabilities from South Waziristan have been fitted with artificial limbs. Work on the project was started three months ago today.
A large number of people had lost their limbs due to terrorism. “We want to see smiles on the faces of these people. We want these people to play their role in the development of Pakistan,” he said.
He said that UAE was cooperating with Pakistan in every field. It has been 50 years since the fraternal relations between the UAE and Pakistan, Pakistan is the first country to recognize the UAE, he added. On the occasion, MD Bait-ul-Mal Akhtar Abbas said that today 61 people have been given hope of living a normal life. “We will implant artificial limbs in 2,000 people,” he said by adding, “People with disabilities will also be fitted with artificial limbs in Balochistan. The UAE has helped Pakistan at every opportunity.”
