ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has asserted that that increased coronavirus restrictions, broader lockdowns and enforcement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) started to have an effect as COVID-19 positivity rate reduced to 8.7 percent.
Taking to Twitter, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) chief wrote, “However, due to momentum of last 2 weeks, patients on critical care and mortality will stay at high levels for some time.”
Asad Umar also urged the people of Pakistan to follow the necessary precautionary measures to contain the third wave of the novel coronavirus.

Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan has said that the vaccination drive in Pakistan is running smoothly. He said so far, nine hundred thousand people have been vaccinated.
Pakistan reported another 3,953 coronavirus infections while almost 103 people lost their lives in the past 24 hours. The total number of cases recorded in the country ever since the pandemic began has crossed reached 696184, while the positivity rate stood at 8.47 percent.
