ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar has called upon Pakistan’s political, social and religious leaders, and the media to join hands to contain the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is time to show the world that Pakistan can limit the spread of the deadly disease,” he said while addressing a press conference after chairing the meeting of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
The planning minister said, “We will have to combat the pandemic once again by taking timely actions to save people from unemployment and avoid further restrictions.”
He also termed the new UK variant the major reason behind the rising trend of coronavirus across the county, saying that UK variant is spreading fast in Punjab, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Warning that callousness towards compliance with coronavirus SOPs can lead us to endanger lives, Umar urged the people of Pakistan to take care of themselves and their families and friends by adopting preventive measures.
In a tweet, the NCOC chief wrote, “Based on continuing increase in disease spread at which hospital fill up is taking place, the NCOC decided to further tighten restrictions.”
Held ncoc meeting today with provincial chief secretaries & reviewed the situation. Based on continuing increase in disease spread & fast pace at which hospital fill up is taking place, particularly critical covid patients, decided to further tighten restrictions.
