Many celebrities including Ali Zafar, Humayun Saeed, Abida Parveen, Resham and Bushra Ansari were awarded civil honours on 23rd March by the President of Pakistan for their services in the entertainment industry.
Along with these celebrities, veteran actress Sakina Samo also was honoured with the Pride of Performance award. However, she believes the journey towards the highest civil honour has not been very easy.“It took me 40 years to get recognised on this level but I do think nothing is stopping women from getting lauded by the govt if they have served their country well,” said Samo while sharing it a news website.
Samo also shared that she feels there are more deserving stars in the fraternity who are more worthy of being lauded on the state level. “I personally believe the choice for Pride of Performance is becoming increasingly simple and easy and as a result, a number of personalities who have dedicated their entire careers often go unnoticed,” maintained Samo.

She shared that she also believes such huge awards should not be conferred to celebrities such as Resham and Ali Zafar. “It is sad that the government has given such a huge award to people like Resham and Ali Zafar, who in my opinion don’t really deserve it.” said Samo who was happy for Bushra Ansari’s recognition.
However, Resham decided to reply to clarify her stance over Samo’s comment against Resham’s victory. “Perhaps I don’t deserve any awards or accolades. However, the point to ponder over here is, do great and senior actors globally give such demeaning remarks towards their juniors? Remarks that belittle and undermine years of struggles and hard work of another actor especially their juniors? Big actors, in their true sense, have big hearts, she asserted.
“May God bless her with more awards, but she should reflect upon the fact that but when someone tries to put someone else down, it shows their own caliber and character, not the other person’s,” Resham added.
Resham also shared her recognization on Instagram wither her fans, “Recognition doesn’t see your gender so no one can stop anyone from climbing the ladder of success and fame. I am grateful for my Pride of Performance, and it won’t be wrong to say that I have worked tirelessly to serve my country,” said Resham.
