ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Shibli Faraz has said leaders of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) are running away from presenting the record in foreign funding cases pending in the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Giving his reaction to the press conference of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman, Shibli Faraz said Bilawal should submit a reply regarding his own party’s foreign funding instead of threatening the Election Commission of Pakistan.
The minister said that the accounts of PPP used for money laundering. “The scrutiny committee of the Election Commission is seeking records from the PPP,” he added.
Shibli Faraz further said, “PTI is not involved in any kind of accepting funding from prohibited entities like foreign governments or multinational companies”
He said the PPP Chairman should not shift the blame for his own inefficiency and incompetence on others, adding that the politics of PPP leaders were based on lies, deceit and corruption.
Shibli Faraz said a fraud of Rs 2.25 billion had been unearthed in the Pensioners Fund in the Finance Department under Sindh Chief Minister.
Fake pensioners and fake accounts were created and more than 90 percent of the fake bank accounts had been traced in the home district of the Chief Minister, he added.
The minister alleged that the nation had not forgotten that Sindh authorities under PPP protection created a shortage of wheat by not releasing it and forced people of the province to purchase expensive flour.
PPP demolished huts of poor, filled Swiss accounts with ill-gotten money and built Surrey palaces, Faraz remarked. Shibli said when politics was based on inheritance rather than merit, the outcome was what had happened to the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) now.
The PDM movement had fizzled out as it was started for the defense of personal interests. Now it has been confined to the squares, alleys and narrow and dark intersections, rather than the big grounds and main highways.
