ISLAMABAD: President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazal-ur-Rehman has convened a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) on Friday i.e. on 1st January.
According to the PDM spokesperson, the meeting will be held at Maryam Nawaz’s house in Lahore in which important decisions are expected including the long march and decisions related to whether to run in the Senate elections.
There are reports that consultations will also be held on boycotting the Senate and by-elections. The timing of the resignations will also be discussed. It may be recalled that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari while addressing a rally at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh yesterday had said that if Prime Minister Imran Khan did not resign by 31st January, he would hold a long march.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari said that the opposition parties would have to change the procedure to oust PM Imran Khan. As per sources, there are differences between the PPP and the JUI-F, and Maulana Fazlur Rehman did not even attend the PDM meeting on the occasion of Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s non-attendance at the Larkana meeting was due to the non-deployment of voluntary officers in Sindh. PPP Chairman had expressed his indignation over the pressure from JUI-F for transfers and appointments in the province.
