ISLAMABAD: Sixth Benazir Bhutto (Shaheed) National Tennis Championship-2020 will start from December 14 (Monday) at Islamabad Tennis Complex, (ITC).
The 6-day event will carry Rs800,000 as prize money and will be held in 12 different categories including men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, juniors’ singles 18 and under, juniors’ singles 14 and under, juniors’ singles 12 and under (boys and girls), Under-19 boys and girls.
Moreover, Seniors’ doubles (45 plus) and doubles 60 plus, and media category are also on the cards. Adel Borghei from Iran would be supervising the championships and Shezad Alvi will be the referee of the championships.
Tournament Director Kamran Khalil said, “To promote girls’ tennis we are adding an Under-14 girls event and we will also organise an event for special children as well.” This year the championship is being sponsored by Sindh Sports Board.
Chairman Tournament organising committee Senator Taj Haider said, “A total of Rs2.7 million would be spent on the event, which will start with qualifying round matches starting from 11th, while main round will start from 14th.”
