ISLAMABAD: Britain’s Prince Charles has reaffirmed United Kingdom’s assistance to Pakistan to cope with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in a phone call to Prime Minister Imran Khan.
According to an official statement issued by the British High Commission today (Thursday), the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and reiterated their commitment to further strengthen ties.
The statement further said, “The Prince of Whales expressed sorrow over Covid-19 fatalities in Pakistan.” Both leaders also agreed on the need for global cooperation to combat climate change.
During the phone call, Prince Charles also approved of Pakistan’s commitment to tackle global warming and stressed that the UK would support Islamabad’s move towards renewable energy.
In a Tweet from his official handle, British High Commissioner Christian Turner said: “HRH the Prince of Wales champions the bond between Commonwealth nations. Today he spoke to Prime Minister Imran Khan to reaffirm UK and Pakistan ties.”

Britain is hosting the United Nations’ climate change summit, known as COP26, the prince told the premier. The event was originally planned for November 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Earlier in October, the Prince of Wales had described the Pakistani mangoes as very tasty and thanked President Arif Alvi for sending him the gift of mangoes.
