ISLAMABAD: Central Chairman of All Pakistan Marriage Industry Zulqarnain Haider Jagger has appealed to the government that the gas and electricity bills should be waived off for the period they had remained closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic as they had no source of earning.
“Government is constantly ignoring the marriage industry, it needs attention, these views were expressed by the Central Chairman of All Pakistan Marriage Industry Zulqarnain Haider Jagger and Central President Khalid Ayub while talking to MM News.
They said that the government has taken a good step by giving discounts on electricity bills to all small industries of Pakistan, which will have a positive impact on the national economy.
They appealed to the government not to neglect the marriage industry. “This industry is not able to stand on its own even though the industry could not pay it employs millions of salaries,” they added.
Zulqarnain Haider said that the marquees and marriage halls employ a large number of permanent as well as the daily wagers; however, the on-going closure is forcing the owners of marquees to disengage their services as they do not have to pay them from their own pocket.
He said that at present there are at least 20,000 people working in the marquees and marriage halls of Islamabad in addition to a large number of people who give different services i.e. butchers, hall decorators and photographers.
The association members demanded that the gas and electricity bills should be waived off for the period they had remained closed due to the pandemic.
They also appealed to the Prime Minister to personally review the steps taken for the industry to stand on its own feet and give it the status of an industry so that this industry, like the rest of the industries in the country, can contribute to the growth of the country.
