RAWALPINDI: The US Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad on Monday met with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discussed Afghan Reconciliation Process.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) today, Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad called on COAS at the General Headquarters and discussed Afghan Reconciliation Process among other matters.
The ISPR further said matters of mutual interest, regional security, the ongoing Afghan Reconciliation Process and Pak-Afghan border management were also discussed during the meeting. The visiting dignitary lauded Pakistan’s peace efforts in the region and its role in intra-Afghan talks, the ISPR added.

Earlier, Zalmay Khalilzad had paid a visit to Islamabad and held meetings with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other top Pakistani officials.
Khalilzad had expressed appreciation on behalf of the United States, especially the important role that Prime Minister Imran Khan and General Bajwa played in facilitating the start of the Afghanistan Peace Negotiations in Doha on September 12 and stressed the need for ongoing regional and international support for this historic opportunity for peace.
