KARACHI: Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) today (Sunday) arrested a wanted person involved in online vehicle trading fraud.
According to details, the arrested accused was using social networking websites WhatsApp and email for their online fraud. However, some of his accomplices are still at large.
Additional Director Cyber Crime Wing Faizullah has informed that the department took action on a complaint of Rs 10 million. He further informed that the gang was first arrested in 2016.
“Azam Butt was sentenced to two years, and fined three million,” he said, adding that the gang after releasing from jail once again started committing similar crimes.
A case has been registered against the arrested accused under several provisions of the Cyber Crime Act. The raiding team had also recovered a laptop and checkbooks of different banks from his possession.
Earlier in October, the FIA Cybercrime Wing Peshawar arrested four fraudsters including two Nigerians as part of an international gang committing online fraud.
