KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has welcomed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) decision to shift Pakistan Super League 5 (PSL-5) remaining four matches from Lahore to Karachi.
The chief minister Sindh said the provincial government is ready to hold Pakistan Super League 5 (PSL-5) remaining four matches, originally scheduled to play in Lahore.
Karachi welcomes the decision and is all geared up to hold matches here as it did in the past while ensuring the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of all sorts of cooperation at the administration level, CM Shah added.
He stressed that he hopes COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) will strictly adhere to hinting at his concern over the second wave of novel coronavirus with an evident jump in case positivity ratio.
Furthering his stance on how the province feels about matches in its stadium, Shah added Karachi will readily host international matches in the metropolis as well.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has shifted the three Twenty20 Internationals from Lahore to Rawalpindi while the remaining matches of the Pakistan Super League will be played in Karachi due to the smog situation in the Punjab capital.
“Taking into consideration the health and well-being of professional athletes and match officials due to the recent deterioration in the air quality caused by an early onset of intense air pollution in Lahore, which is expected to deepen next month, the Pakistan Cricket Board had decided to relocate scheduled matches at the cricket headquarters to Rawalpindi and Karachi,” the PCB said in a statement on Friday.
