Pakistan reports 644 new coronavirus cases

KARACHI: At least four more people have died in Pakistan due to the coronavirus and the total death toll has risen to 6,517.

According to the National Command and Operations Center, 644 new cases of coronavirus were reported across the country and the total number of affected people has reached 315,260.

During the last 24 hours, 375 coronavirus patients recovered and the total number of cured people was 298,968. The number of virus active cases in the country is 9,135.

The number of coronavirus cases in Islamabad has reached 16,766. 99,812 cases have been reported in Punjab, 138,050 in Sindh, 37,973 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,371 in Balochistan, 3,828 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 2,816 in Azad Kashmir.

The coronavirus has claimed 2,240 deaths in Punjab and 2,520 in Sindh, while the death toll in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is 1,260, Islamabad 183, Balochistan 146, Gilgit-Baltistan 88 and Azad Kashmir 76.

There are 132 testing laboratories operating in the country and trace, test, and quarantine strategies are working effectively in several cities.

A total of 3,644,762 corona tests have been conducted so far, while 735 hospitals are equipped with COVID-19 facilities. Some 753 corona patients were admitted to hospitals across the country.
