KARACHI: Aafia Movement Pakistan leader Dr Fowzia Siddiqui has urged Prime Minister Imran Khan to take steps for the repatriation for Dr Afia Siddiqui who has imprisoned in the United States.
Protests were held in Karachi as well as other cities of the country for the release of Dr. Aafia Siddiqui on Wednesday. In this regard, the Aafia Movement organized a rally from Karachi Press Club to Governor House Karachi.
Fowzia Siddiqui, the sister of Dr Afia. said that March 30, 2003, was the dark day in the history of Pakistan when the daughter of the nation, a Ph.D. in education, was handed to Americans, violating all national and international laws and was trafficked to Afghanistan.
She said even every difficult time, the people of Pakistan have not forgotten Dr Aafia. She said on her appeal thousands of solidarity messages were received in one day. She said that due to the paucity of time only selected video messages are being uploaded on the official Facebook page of the Aafia Movement.
She demanded from Prime Minister Imran Khan to take immediate steps for the repatriation of Dr Aafia from American jails.
Thanking Pakistanis and people from abroad for there solidarity messages, she urged them to play their role in checking the spread of the virus and fully cooperate with the government.
She said Aafia has already spent 17 years in illegal confinement. Now we just demand her release and we even do not demand doling out justice to her, she said.
Dr Fowzia Siddiqui said that the nation wanted a change and it is felt that Imran Khan would not disappoint the nation like the previous rulers.
She hoped that PM Imran Khan would take up this matter with the US administration bravely and reject every pressure so that honor of the country and nation could be upheld”.
