Pakistan, China to sign accord on CPEC’s Rashakai Economic Zone

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and China will sign the development agreement of China Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) Rashakai Special Economic Zone on Monday.

This was stated by Chairman Board of Investment, Atif R. Bokhari in a press release issued today (Sunday). Federal ministers, representatives from various ministries, and different stakeholders will attend the event scheduled to take place at the Prime Minister House.

Atif R. Bokhari said that the Rashakai Special Economic Zone will pave the way for the establishment of new zones. “Rashakai Economic Zone will also provide a conducive business environment for bringing Foreign Direct Investment in the country,” he added.

He further said that Pakistan’s proximity with China will allow these Special Economic Zones to foster economic interdependence for mutual economic advantage.

Atif Bokhari informed that at least Rs3 billion has been allocated to provide 210 MW of electricity and 30 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) gas to the Rashakai Economic Zone.  

“The timely construction and development of the zone will be possible with the provision of all the basic facilities required,” Bokhari said, adding that the zone covered an area of 1,000 acres.
