RAWALPINDI: Water And Sanitation Agency (WASA) has rented out a room for the tubewell and motors in Chah Sultan area and the equipment has been installed on the main road.
The engines for the motorway have fallen into disrepair and the area has no water supply since 10th Muharram (August 31). The machinery is placed in open skies throughout the year and the operating system has fallen into disrepair several times.
WASA has rented the room to an influential social personality and have made no effort to repair the tubewell’s engine. Local residents said the room was built for the tubewell and its engine was burnt when it was being used during recent rains.
They complained that many residents including women, children, and elderly have to go to distant areas to fetch water. They claimed that WASA authorities have turned no attention towards resolving their problem and repair the motor of the tubewell and ensure water supply to their area.
