PSX ends volatile trading session on negative note

KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) held a volatile session today (Friday) and ended the trading session on a negative note.

The benchmark KSE 100 index dropped 246.96 points and ended at 39,621.59. At one point, the index was recorded at 39,240.07 after shedding over 600 points. However, a late semi-recovery meant that the losses were reduced to some extent.

The share prices of 206 companies were down and 125 witnessed no change. These statistics came as the shares of 349 companies were traded. Total market volumes increased from 394.62 million shares in the last session to 400.43 million shares.

Worldcall Telecom (WTL -4.72%) led the volume chart with 23.98 million shares exchanged. Followed by Azgard Nine Limited (ANL +1.23%) and TPL Corp Limited (TPL -3.25%). The scrips had 21.79 million shares and 19.58 million shares traded, respectively.

The lower bench KSE 30 index decreased by 106.70 points and closed 17,176.77 points. The KMI 30 index lost 677.11 points and closed at 63,724.77 points, while the All-Share Index lost 216.38 points and closed at 27,858.64 points.

Since recording the biggest sustained profitable streak of the year in July when the KSE-100 gained 4,836.92 points and closed at 39,258.44, it has moved up only 240.13 points this month so far.
