LAHORE: An Accountability court has indicted Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz in the Ramzan Sugar Mills case.
During the hearing, the court directed to start indictment proceedings over which, the PML-N leader’s lawyer Advocate Amjad Pervez sought time for preparation of the arguments.
“We need some time to prepare for the arguments,” Advocate Amjad Pervez said. The court to this replied while instructing the lawyer to complete his arguments, “You had six months to prepare for the case. We have fixed this case today to indict the accused.”
Following the completion of arguments, the court indicted Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz in Ramzan Sugar Mills’ case. Both accused pleaded not guilty in a courtroom.

The verdict was pronounced Justice Amjad Nazir Chaudhry of the accountability court. Last year on 18th February, National Accountability Bureau (NAB) filed a reference against Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz, alleging the former Chief Minister Punjab misused his authority and got constructed a 10-km sludge carrier in district Chiniot to facilitate Ramzan Sugar Mills, owned by his sons. The bureau alleged that the step inflicted a loss of Rs. 213 million to the national treasury.
