LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended interim bail of Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif till 17th August in two corruption cases.
A two-member bench of the Lahore High Court heard the petition of Shehbaz Sharif. During the last hearing, the LHC had extended the interim bail of Shehbaz Sharif until today in the money laundering case.
Shehbaz Sharif has taken a stand in his petition that he started his business in1972 and played an important role in the agriculture, sugar, and textile industry while he entered politics in 1988 for the betterment of the society.

The statement said that the NAB has made a case of assets in excess of income on the basis of malice and due to the political influence of the present government. The allegations leveled by the NAB in the inquiry are of a general nature.
The petition added that he was arrested in the same case in 2018 and had fully cooperated with the NAB. During the arrest in 2018, the NAB did not present any evidence against him regarding the abuse of power.
Shehbaz Sharif said that the NAB cannot exercise its discretion in a case in which there is no evidence. “I have been declaring all assets regularly, allegations of money laundering are also baseless. The NAB cannot exercise the powers of the Anti-Money Laundering Act during an inquiry,” he added.
