ISLAMABAD: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) have arrested two human smugglers who allegedly defrauded a family after promising to send them to Saudi Arabia.
FIA official conducted a raid and arrested travel agents, Muhammad Zahid and Muhammad Yusuf. A First Information Report (FIR) no. 224/2020 was registered against them on 3rd June last month.
The suspect received one million rupees from two families on the pretext of sending them to Saudi Arabia for performing Umrah. However, they did not return the money or the passports of the family since several months.
The aggrieved family eventually registered a complaint at the human smuggling wing of the FIA. The federal authority registered an FIR after which the suspects absconded.
FIA official received a tip-off and conducted a raid in Tarlia Kalan and Dhamial area of Islamabad and arrested the suspects, while efforts are been made to arrest their accomplices.
FIA officials have expedited the process to recover the passports and money from the human traffickers and further investigation is underway. The aggrieved family have expressed relief at the arrest of the suspects who have been shifted to FIA’s cell.
