ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to auction plots in Sector I-12 and I-14 of the federal capital to handpicked property dealers under immense political pressure.

Sources informed that CDA’s Land & Rehabilitation Department has decided to include plots allotted in the past in the proposed auction to grant them legal cover, while more than 200 files of plots have allegedly gone missing.

Despite immense opposition from estate and other officials, Director Land & Rehabilitation is adamant about holding the auction on 20th July. Hence many officers with the department have recused themselves and raised serious apprehensions over the dubious auction to favour the property dealers.

A member of the auction committee said that auction cannot be held unless all the property files and list of plots are not available. Many high-level officials within the CDA have also raised objections over the controversial auction.

Deputy Director Syed Naveed-ur-Rehman and CDA Member Estate Naveed Elahi have distanced themselves, while Director Security has raised three objections over the proposed auction.

Senior officials said that auction of plots that have already been allotted is being done on political pressure which has created uncertainty and raised concern with the organisation.

CDA officials revealed an adviser to the prime minister had been piling pressure for the proposed auction which is been resisted by the organisation.
