Committee formed to probe bogus postings, promotions in DMC East

KARACHI: District Municipal Corporation (DMC) East Commissioner Waseem Mustafa Soomro has taken notice of illegal postings and promotions in trade unions in the district.

In a notification dated 13 July, the commissioner has formed a high-level inquiry committee to probe the complaints of bogus postings in trade unions and illegal postings. The seven-member committee will be headed by DMC East Standing Committee Chairman Rana Tanzeel.

The other members of the committee are Director Admin Salik Ahmed Bhutto, Account Officer Javed Shaikh, Council Officer Manzoor Shaikh, Deputy Director Parks Muhammad Iqbal Shaikh, General Secretary Peoples Labour Union Muhammad Khurram, and General Secretary United Workers Front Faisal Islam.

Last month, Peoples Labour Union and United Workers Front has lodged two separate complaints with Municipal Commissioner regarding the systematic and prevalent illegal postings in the municipality.

The urged the Municipal Commissioner to take prompt action to save the DMC from further destruction. The commissioner has formed a committee to probe the matter and present its recommendations to identify and take action against those held responsible.

In a separate notification, DMC East has dismissed Hafiz Abdullah as Account Assistant for salaries and Waqas Raza has been given charge.
