Shahzad Qasim appointed SAPM on Power Division

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan appointed Syed Shahzad Qasim as special assistant on Power Division.
A notification has also been issued by the Cabinet Division and his post will be equivalent to a state minister. With the appointment of Qasim, the total number of special assistants to the prime minister has increased to fifteen.
Shahzad Qasim has been performing as Special Assistant to PM on Coordination of Marketing and Development of Mineral Resources and has been given additional charge of special assistant on Power Division.
A couple of days ago, he had been appointed as chairman of a four-member committee to probe the fuel crisis in the country.
Shahzad Qasim completed his masters in energy and policy management from the University of Pennsylvania. He had also served at senior executive positions for the AES Corp, a Fortune 500 company, and vice-chairman of NGP, an renewable energy company.
Earlier, some private channels aired news Nadeem Babar was removed as special assistant to the prime minister on Power Division. Babar was discharging his duties as Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Petroleum.
Spokesperson to the Ministry of Power Division has clarified the news item and Nadeem Babar was holding portfolio of SAPM on Petroleum rather than Power Division. A statement said that Nadeem Babar was still holding portfolio of SAPM on Petroleum.
