ISLAMABAD: Minister for Foreign Affairs Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Saturday inaugurated Al-Noor Mosque rebuilt at the foreign affairs ministry office.
As per details, the minister unveiled the plaque of the mosque and reviewed the reconstruction work. Director-General Headquarters of the ministry apprised the minister of the project. Foreign Secretary Sohail Mahmood and senior officers of the ministry were also present
On the occasion, Qureshi underlined that Pakistan is resolutely confronting the COVID-19 outbreak and taking all possible measures to strengthen the existing health system. He said the major focus remained on both saving lives and livelihoods.
He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan introduced major initiatives including an $8 billion relief package for the most vulnerable people and Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program to help the needy.
The minister underscored that besides causing deaths, the pandemic has shaken the world and led to an economic slowdown, bankruptcy, financial fissures, job losses and disruption in global supply chains. He especially prayed for the elimination of COVID-19 pandemic and the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan is preparing to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for all Sikh pilgrims from 29th June.
The news was announced by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi. Taking to the social media, he wrote that Pakistan prepares to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for all Sikh pilgrims as places of worship open up across the world.
“As places of worship open up across the world, Pakistan prepares to reopen the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor for all Sikh pilgrims, conveying to the Indian side our readiness to reopen the corridor on 29 June 2020, the occasion of the death anniversary of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh,” he wrote.
