Over 3,855 health workers contracted coronavirus, 36 lost lives: NEOC

ISLAMABAD: As many as 3,858 health workers have contracted the COVID-19 across the country of which 36 have lost their lives since it first emerged in Pakistan.
According to the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) report, among the affected were 2,327 doctors, 476 nurses and 1,055 other medical staff. About 3,110 were on duty elsewhere whereas 748 of them were working in intensive care centers, the report said.
While 1,456 health care workers had recovered from the disease and 2,100 of them had been quarantined at home and other places. Around 266 are under treatment at different hospitals in which 263 health workers are in good health whereas three are in critical condition and are on ventilators.
The report further added 14 among the 36 health care workers who lost their lives belonged from Sindh province, seven from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, six from Punjab, five from Balochistan and two each from Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad.
As many as 9,809 patients of COVID-19 have recovered across the country during the last 24 hours, taking the total tally of recuperated patients to 50, 056.
In the positive development, around 32pc patients have been fully recovered from the disease. Total recoveries in Sindh 23,113,  In Punjab 17, 560 in Punjab, 4, 072 in KP, 762 in Balochistan, 2,722 in GB, 676 in Islamabad and 242 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 132,405 in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 2,496. According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 6,472 cases of coronavirus were reported while 88 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As per details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while 79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.
There have been 47,382 cases reported in Punjab, 49,256 in Sindh, 15,415 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7,673 in Balochistan, 6,699 in Islamabad, 534 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 1,044 in Gilgit Baltistan. 
Out of a total of 2,496 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 642 deaths, Sindh 793, Balochistan 80, Gilgit-Baltistan 16, Punjab 890, Azad Kashmir 10 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 65 deaths.
