KARACHI: The Sindh government has appointed an official as managing director of the Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) who is presently outside of the country.
Kashif Gulzar Shaikh, an officer of Secretariat Group (BS-20) is presently on leave and has been posted as MD SSWMB with immediate effect and until further orders.
Gulzar is currently out of the country and is unlikely to return anytime soon due to suspension of international flights amid the coronavirus pandemic.
This has raised concerns that the institution could be running with any top-level authority for the foreseeable future which could affect the cleanliness efforts in Karachi.
The Sindh government has also replaced the Director-General Karachi Development Authority (KDA). Asif Ikram, an officer of PAS (BS-20) has been appointed as the position.
A notification was issued on Monday by the services, general administration and coordination department after approval from the chief secretary.
