KARACHI: Another five-storey building in the Liaquatabad area of Karachi is on the verge to collapse. Fear has been spread among the residents of the building.
According to the details, cracks have appeared on the walls and the building has started tilting to one side. However, no action has been taken by the concerned authorities yet.
Sources have claimed that the five-storey building was constructed illegally under the patronage of corrupt officers of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA). The SBCA officers received a huge amount of bribe in this regard.
The building residents have claimed that they have written several letters to the building authority in order to stop illegal construction in the area, but no action has been taken so far.
Upon receiving reports of cracks on the building, PTI MPA Raja Azhar along with his team reached the spot.
Leaders of various political, social, and religious parties, including Raja Azhar, have appealed to the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take stern action against the building control officers who are involved in illegal constructions.
Earlier, a five-storey illegally constructed building in the Gulbahar area of Liaquatabad Town collapsed and in which 18 innocent people were killed.
