Sindh Governor tests positive for coronavirus

KARACHI: Governor Sindh Imran Ismail has confirmed that he had tested positive for COVID-19. 

On a social media website Twitter, Imran Ismail said: “I have just been tested Covid 19 positive, Allah Kareem inshallah will fight it out”.

“Imran Khan thought us to fight out the most difficult in life and I believe this is nothing against what we r prepared for. May Allah give strength to fight this Pandemic inshallah, he added”. He revealed that he had isolated himself at the Governor House.

The Governor further said “Will also have my family tested for the virus.” Governor Ismail appealed to the public to pray for him, saying that his health was fine. “I’m feeling better. No need to worry”, he said.

On April 24, a Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Syed Abdul Rasheed tested positive for corona virus. Later, he quarantined himself at his residence in Karachi.

On April 27, Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani had contracted novel COVID-19 after he took a test which had been declared positive.

On March 29, Saeed Ghani had said that he was tested negative for the coronavirus, recovering from the disease after almost a week.

The provincial COVID-19 tally infected stands at 4,953, while the death toll has reached 85 as of today.

Sindh health authorities have recorded 269 cases of the novel COVID-19 in the metropolis over the past 24 hours, marking the highest number of patients across Sindh.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the province reported 341 new cases over the past 24 hours as social distancing continued to fall in the city.

The chief minister said that there was no social distancing in the economic hub’s slums despite serious efforts, causing cases to rise day by day.
