LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif has once again skipped from appearing before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in a money laundering case.
Despite the NAB’s warning to the PML-N president that legal action will be taken against him if he fails to appear before the bureau, however, Shehbaz Sharif still excused himself from appearing before the bureau.
According to the PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb, Shehbaz Sharif provided the required documents to the NAB. “He is a cancer survivor and had been advised by the doctor against any travelling during the pandemic,” she added.
The NAB team, while expressing dissatisfaction over the PML-N president, has resummoned him on 4th May.
Last month, the PML-N leader was summoned by the NAB in the same case, however, he skipped the hearing by stating that he is a 69-years-old cancer survivor, had been advised by his doctor to avoid any traveling during the pandemic.
According to NAB, Shehbaz’s family assets grew from Rs23 million to Rs549 billion between 1998 and 2018. “As a public office holder Shehbaz needs to explain the increase in his assets,” NAB said.
Furthermore, the bureau froze a cottage and a villa in Pir Sohawa and two more plots in Chiniot of Shehbaz Sharif. Moreover, the NAB sealed his nine plots in Lahore’s Johar Town, four in Judicial Colony, two houses in Model Town, and as many houses in DHA.
It is to be noted here that other than Shehbaz Sharif, his sons Hamza Shehbaz and Suleman Shehbaz has also been nominated in the same case.
