LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will resume disciplinary hearings against cricketer Umar Akmal in the upcoming week related to his involvement in suspicious activities.
Umar Akmal was temporarily suspended on 20th February, just a day before the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 5 kicked off. The disciplinary panel will decide whether the cricketer will be suspended or not.
According to the PCB, the cricketer was suspended under Article 4.7.1 and is banned from playing and taking part in any cricket-related activity. He reportedly confessed that he was approached by a bookie who had offered the cricketer a huge amount to fix the match.
The video and photos of the two were also found by the PCB’s Anti-Corruption Unit. In this regard, Akmal could face a two-year sentence for failing to report the bookie’s contact to cricket authorities.
