KARACHI: The union council chairman has distributed the ration bags among the needy in various areas of the city in the wake of the coronavirus lockdown.
The ration was distributed according to the Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) details in Gulberg, FB area, and Gharibabad areas. Last week, the Sindh government distributed ration among the poor.
A sum of Rs80 million was released in every district of Sindh for ration distribution among the poor people whose livelihood had been affected due to the government’s lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic.
The decision was earlier held in a meeting chaired by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. He briefed the meeting about the measures he has taken to contain further spread of coronavirus. This includes the closure of malls, restaurants termed as partial lockdown to slow down the spread of so that necessary arrangements for establishing Isolation centers and field hospitals could be made accordingly.
Last month, some people were caught for selling the rations to grocery shops in Karachi. A group of people used to gather around various welfare organizations for rations and later sold items at different shops at cheap rates.
