Mills case: Nawaz, Maryam granted exemption from personal appearance

LAHORE: An accountability court has granted an exemption to Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leaders Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.
AC Judge conducted the hearing. Counsel for Nawaz Nawaz argued that all three suspects have secured bail from the high court. He further highlighted that the anti-graft watchdog has not filed any evidence in the case.
AC judge also granted an exemption to Yousaf Abbas till the filing of reference by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Nawaz Sharif, who is convicted in Al-Azizia reference, has been staying in London since November last year for his treatment on the medical grounds. The Sharif family has been indicted for using the Chaudhry Sugar Mills for money-laundering.
Last month, an accountability court granted a permanent exemption to former premier Nawaz Sharif in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills on the medical grounds. AC Judge Amjad Nazir pronounced the decision. Nawaz Sharif has been staying in London since November 2019 for the medical treatments.
