ISLAMABAD: President Dr. Arif Alvi over the decision of banning the Friday prayers said that the consensus was better than one-sided action.
The president took to twitter and wrote that more than 80 scholars participated in the essential prayer and Friday consultations in mosques.

The president said that after consultation with the scholars, it was decided that mosques would not be closed, but the government could limit the number of worshipers to 4 to 5 people in the coronavirus outbreak. Regarding the decision to ban Friday prayers, the consensus was much better than unilateral action, he added.
He held a video conference yesterday with scholars from different countries about the situation caused by the coronavirus and appealed to them to help raise awareness among the people.
Earlier, Alvi said that the sick should not be mixed with healthy. For Friday prayers follow government instructions but for time being: pray at home if you have fever/cough/cold, if you are a senior citizen, minor, asthmatic, etc, he added.
