KARACHI: Provincial Ombudsman has ordered the removal of three security head of the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD) over ‘harassing’ female staff.
The three officials were penalized under section 4(4) (ii) (c) (e) of the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act 2010.
According to sources, three senior officials of the NICVD were sacked after they were found responsible for causing sexual harassment at the workplace with female subordinates.
They were identified as Abdul Latif, Javed Hussain and Mirza Zafar Mehmood, and were removed from their services with immediate effect. The two employees were fined Rs 100,000 each, while one was fined for Rs150,000.
Earlier, two complainants from the female employees of the NICVD had approached the Sindh Ombudsman for the Protection against Harassment of Women at the Workplace almost a year ago after the NICVD failed to take any action against the accused persons despite an internal inquiry had found all the three guilty.
